As I mentioned in my previous post about Mythos, we went to Islands of Adventure on Saturday. I wanted to write a few words about butterbeer and the “buffeteria” (quick service) restaurant in The Wizarding World, Three Broomsticks.
First, butterbeer is even better than you think it is. It’s vanilla flavored and reminds me of the “snow cream” my nanny made me as a little girl (as far as I remember, this was fresh snow with cream, sugar, and vanilla). You can have it fizzy or frozen. I only tried the frozen. My MIL who has had both says frozen is the way to go. Either way you get it, it’s topped with butterscotch marshmallow cream. Let me repeat that: BUTTERSCOTCH MARSHMALLOW CREAM. Holy moly is it good. AND according to the info I found each serving is only 200 calories. WORTH IT!
Second, we went into the pub there in HP Land, Hog’s Breath (very cute–there’s an animatronic hog’s head behind the bar that occasionally moves and snarls), to get butterbeer and noticed that attached to the pub is Three Broomsticks, which serves British food like “fish and chips, shepherd’s pie, Cornish pasty, turkey legs and fresh vegetables.” The thing that caught our attention was the roasted ears of corn. They looked delicious! (A children’s menu with the usual suspects is also available.) If/when we go back, I think we’re going to try it. I noted Three Broomsticks has very good reviews on Urbanspoon and TripAdvisor.
