Birthday Party Recap (9/23)

She says:
Just a quick post about Hubby’s birthday party at World of Beer Carrollwood on Sunday. I reserved the back section of the bar and ordered food from Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza and Ocean Blue Sushi. Cupcakes came from Sweet Tweets. The WOB staff took great care of our party (13 of us!). Thanks to Lara, Ricardo, Tori, and Mike. Ben at Ocean Blue delivered our delicious sushi platter (15 rolls) right on time and remembered tongs (it’s the little things that matter most). Dermott at Anthony’s took care of our pizza order and helped deliver the piles of food. (We ordered so much food it took two people two trips to deliver it all!)

Two things I want to mention in detail:

1) Anthony’s has a great tailgating special right now. For $13 per person (minimum of 10 people) they will give you pizza (about 2 slices each), salad, ribs (about 3 each), wings (also about 3 each), and meatballs (1 each, but they’re big meatballs). If you ordered everything a la carte, it would be about $20 per person according to my calculations.

2) Sweet Tweets cupcakes were a huge hit (some snaps are below). We had vanilla bean (those are the ones with the discs on top), pina colada (the ones with the palm trees), and salted caramel. Everyone raved about them. My mom ate two and she’s not a big sweets eater! As a baker, I appreciate that you taste more than sugar in their cupcakes; you get real nuance like with homemade baked goods. Scott (one of the owners) is a super guy, too. (I’m sure his wife is as well but I haven’t met her yet!)

About the wife: She’s been an accountant since 2004 and loves numbers maybe a little too much. She eats and cooks and bakes and drinks and constantly has to watch her weight because of it. About the husband: He’s a government employee… for 9 years… he likes nice people who don’t talk too much and FOOD!!! He’s a fatty who loves beer, wine and clear spirits. He likes to cook, usually stuff that is too hard for him but usually turns out well. he tries to watch his weight as it goes by at the speed of light but can’t seem to see it… oh and he loves the Wifey. she rocks.
